Bio: Born, and raised in Queens, NY. on November 13th Ikabod, comes thru as a student of the game and a leader in his mission to create great music. Ikabod is a lover of the art music in all genres but he's very passionate about soul music, "once you reach the soul with your music it becomes a classic in your heart". Ikabod's, mission is to create classic albums in Hip-Hop & R&B not just one hit singles. Being in the age of singer-mc's, Ikabod approaches his craft with an appreciation for those that are doing it and uses that as a motivator. Although he has won many rap battles in the NYC, he's grounded enough to make music that speaks to the ladies too.
Ikabod's style is said to be compared to Jay z @ his prime, biggie while in the heart of BK. and Tupac, before he was California lovin. "There influence's are all in my music". "I was born in the beginnings of hip-hop and soul music has been driving the industry for years, how can I not be inspired by that movement". Artist like Sade, Force MD's, Seal and many more set in motion of how he wants his music to be felt and other influences on how he wants to be heard. "I'm not trying to re-invent the wheel I just wanna put some crazy rims on it, make you say that tire looks a million times better and add my r&b flow to it is like the armoral".
Ikabod's motivation is not only the love for the art but also it was a moment in time. "you know when you get those cross roads and you have to choose. Well I had two of those moments one was in 2005 I was put out of my crib, I had to chose, either I pick my self up or fall apart and let this take me. I chose to live stronger, to put my self in a position where I'm responsible for my destiny. It's a struggle, but it's my new reality". "The other moment was when a gun was put to my head when I was sitting in my car in Maryland, and at that moment I chose to live, I spead off, my car was shot up but I have life, I can get a car back".
Ikabod's music reflects his life and the life of many others. " I just wanna tell my story and how I see things, your either gonna relate to it or find it entertaining either way I got you". In the near future Ikabod, hopes to collaborate with Kanye West, Sade, Seal and Jay-Z, just to name a few. For now he's gonna let the streets call it, " you got to respect the streets, it's the heartbeat of the arts and I can feel them drumming for me". A force to be recon with would be an understatement. Ikabod has joined forces with Stacks Media Group, (management) and Kon-nect (production) to bring a sound that feels familiar but sounds unique. "We gonna Katrina this industry"
