Songwriter's Corner
Gwendolyn Draper Yates from Vicksburg, MS is an educator, a poet, a songwriter, and the author of an inspirational book of poetry, Hometown Matters of The Heart. She describes herself as a faith walker, enjoys being with people, especially the saints of God, reading the Bible, writing poetry, articles, short stories, songs, solving problems, helping others, movies, gardening, decorating, dining out, and shopping. Ms. Yates is a member of a fantastic Church, Standfield New Life Christian Church, with great pastors and members. Eight of the poems in her poetry book have been recorded as songs by a great musician, Fred Hall Hudson, at the Expression Music Studio in Vicksburg. She was selected as Suggested Artist in August 2009 round of the Song of the Year song and lyric competition. Since that time she has obtained 3 other music awards and one being a Semifinalist in the Song of the Year songwriting contest recently. Ms. Yates is working on her second album, Men of Valor, to be released in the new year.
