Dark, brooding music for the tragically romantic!
Bio: NICOLE-MARIE BIO Nicole-Marie is a singer/songwriter from the Tacoma, Washington area. With her third release, Tragic Romantic, Nicole-Marie aims to step outside of the personality style she most identifies with, the tragic romantic, using the Ennegram classifications. It is her hope to expunge this dark matter from her soul so that she can incorporate lighter energy into her being. The three most notable songs on Tragic Romantic are track 2 - What a Letdown; track 3 - Back My Way and track 9 - Miss the Most. With the song What a Letdown, Nicole-Marie wanted to demystify the illusion of romantic love that is so overdone in the media and focus on the reality of disappointment in relationships that haven't reached their full potential. Miss the Most is a song that was inspired by her work as a clinical social worker and having to say goodbye to clients, especially children, once therapy has ended. Once again, this project is different from her two previous albums which are also different from each other. Nicole-Marie obviously likes to experiment and step outside the box to explore different genres and ideas with music. With her latest CD, Tragic Romantic, Nicole-Marie wanted to bring an alternative rock edge to her bold lyrics and worked with a real drummer and electric guitarist for the first time. As a fan of Alanis Morissette, Nicole-Marie wanted to the album to reflect the style of Jagged Little Pill. This album also shows her influences from other creatives gifted with interpreting the dark side of life, most notably Kurt Cobain of Nirvana. Inspired by shadow psychology, she hopes to translate the darkness that so many feel and let her own darkness dissolve in the light it is brought to. Like an actress that doesn't want to be type cast, Nicole-Marie dares to explore all sides of her psyche instead of choosing one style of music and sticking to it. In this way, she wants to inspire others to accept themselves and their loved ones as whole people with good and bad parts. Nicole-Marie has had the pleasure of working with talented artists Chris Pyle, Mike Loera, Jesse Plack and Bob Fox of The Hive Recording Studio on Tragic Romantic. In the past, she has worked with the exceptional acoustic guitarist Will Reedy of Acoustic Chambers Recording Studio. She has studied guitar under German Briseno of Los Burbanks, Chris Lund of Loser, Kevin Garry and blues guitarist James "Curley" Cooke. She has had the opportunity to perform at several famers markets and art festivals around the northwest and she has performed at Jazzbones and Experience Music Project. She involves herself in projects related to her interest in social services such as AIDS awareness and prostitution recovery programs. Other than music, her interests include screenwriting, alternative healing, and providing creative opportunities to others.
